PC Board Design and Build Kit is a complete package to retrofit your MDX machine to design and manufacture PC boards. The kit comes with software, tools, and a sample material kit.

This kit is for individuals who do not have there own PC board design software. If you already have PC board design software then check out or PC Board CAM software that allows you to import designs from other software packages and manufacture them.

PC Board Design

PC Board Design provides a convenient and professional method of designing printed circuit boards and drawing schematics. Although a very comprehensive system, the most important design consideration for the software, has been to make it easy to use and accessible to non electrical engineers. It is ideal for both simple single-sided PC Boards, and complex double-sided boards. A library allows standard component libraries (supplied) to be used. Alternatively, user defined components, or even whole circuits, may be saved as library items. It is possible to create small system boards which may easily be loaded and “joined” together to form complete circuits. A large selection of pre-drawn “Alpha” circuit modules is included.

PC Board Design drawings may be transferred to other CAD programs to use in designing the enclosure, fascia, packaging and marketing material. PC Board Design can also import drawings from other programs via .dxf format.

PC Board Manufacture
PC Board Manufacture writes instructions for the Roland milling machine to create the PC board design. It works very easily and follows your design you created in PC Board Design software. The MDX creates a circuit by engraving around each circuit path with a fine point tool onto conventional copper clad PC board. This process is called isolation engraving. While not electronically necessary, it is also possible to remove the unused copper to provide an excellent "prototype" of a conventional printed circuit board. If suitable tools are available for the machine, the software will also allow the holes to be drilled and the circuit board profile to be milled out. It is possible to take a fully finished board from the machine, engraved, drilled and ready to solder.

System Requirements
The software will run on any Windows system using Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista or Windows 7. Although the software can run on a computer with minimum resources for any of the operating systems, large drawings may benefit from a higher performance machine to improve speed.

PC Board Design and Make can be used without reference to a printed manual. Most functions are self explanatory and Help is always available in the program. However to achieve the best results in the shortest time, it is recommended that you work through the PC Board Design tutorials. These tutorials are contained within Help>Help Contents and are also available in a printable format, in the Tutorial_Booklet.pdf.
